Sok 3ala Banatak
This 4-hour play is one of Fouad El Mohandes’ best. It follows the story of a widower who aims to marry off his three daughters before he sets off and marries his secret lover himself. Sok 3ala Banatak also stars Sherihan and Sanaa Younes.
El Wad Sayed El Shaghal
This list wouldn’t have been the same without the king of all comedies, El Za3eem Adel Imam. In this classic, as Sayed (Adel Imam) tries to run away from the police, and hides by working as a servant at a wealthy family’s house. There, a series of funny events take place, and he ends up getting married to their daughter! The play also stars Omar El Hariri, Ragaa El Geddawi, Moushira Ismail, and Mostafa Metwalli.
Madraset El Moshaghbeen
Another major hit in the world of Egyptian plays is Madraset El Moshaghbeen. The story follows five misfits and troublemakers in high school, and how their new teacher tries to change them into A-students. The play stars Adel Imam, Said Saleh, Suhair El Babli, Ahmed Zaki, Youness Shalabi, and Hassan Mostafa.
El 3eyal Kebret
This one just never fails to make us laugh our heads off. El 3eyal Kebret follows four kids who find out that their father is about to run away with his mistress, but they do everything to prevent this from happening. The play stars Said Saleh, Ahmed Zaki, Youness Shalabi, Hassan Mostafa, and Karima Mokhtar.
Raya w Skina
This is the true story of Alexandria’s infamous serial killers and robbers, Raya and Skina. It had several adaptations, but this comedy play is by far the best! The two sisters lead a series of robberies and murders where their victims are women. The show stars Shadia, Suhair El Babli, and Abdelmoneim Madbouli.
Al Motazawegoon
Who doesn’t use “el sorsaaar” reference to this day? This is a humorous story of a newly wedded couple who, coming from two different social classes, embark on a journey to discover the secret to a happy marriage, and hope to leave their old lives behind. Al Motazawegoon stars none other than Samir Ghanem, Sherin, and George Sidhum.
Shahed Mashafsh 7aga
Another comedy by Adel Imam that never gets old. It follows the story of a children’s TV host who gets pressured into testifying as an eyewitness to a murder. The play also stars Nahed Gabr and Omar El Hariri.
Bye Bye London
If you’ve seen all Egyptian classics and need a change, how about you watch this hit Kuwaiti play? This satirical play follows a businessman and his encounters in London. It stars Abdulhussain Abdulredah, Ghanem Al-Saleh, and Mariam Al-Ghadban.
Morahek Fel Khamseen
Another Kuwaiti classic is Morahek Fel Khamseen, and, as the title suggests, it follows a 50-year-old man who stars acting like a teenager when he falls in love with a younger woman. The play stars Abdulhussain Abdulredah, Haifaa Adel, and Dawood Hussain.
