Followings waves of public outcry regarding various cases of sexual harassment, the E7na (Us) initiative is launching the country’s first-ever summit to provide a safe platform for discussion and come up with radical solutions under the theme of “E7na Akwa Ma’ Ba’d” (We’re Stronger Together). The summit is set to take place online on the 13th and 14th of November, and it will feature panel talks and workshops in hopes of supporting survivors and the community through active communication.
“[E7na] aims to provide and facilitate a full communication platform, and to share experiences, expertise, and services with harassment survivors, and with the community at large”, reads a press release by the organisation. “The summit aims to establish strategic partnerships with numerous entities, who will support the event pro-bono or discounted services, to be presented to all attendees and participants”.
Key figures will be taking part in the summit, including Dr Mervat Abou Oaf and Manal El Gamil, who are both members of the National Council for Women. Prominent psychiatrist, Dr Sally Toma, along with GIZ’s Yasmeen Hamdan, are also set to join the discussions.
