A little over a year ago, we were all stoked upon hearing the news about the first Egyptian Netflix Original, Paranormal, based on late legend Ahmed Khaled Tawfik’s 81-novel series Ma Waraa’ Al Tabi’a. Finally, after a long wait, it’s been revealed that the crew is finally done filming after actor Ahmed Amin and filmmaker Amr Salama share a picture of the clapperboard with “ferkesh” written on it.

The third Netflix series, to be produced in the MENA region, follows the stories of Dr Refaat Ismail, a haematologist who comes across a series of supernatural events in Egypt’s 1960s. So far, the only confirmed cast member is Amin, who’s set to play the role of Dr Ismail, the main character. There also hasn’t been any news regarding a confirmed final release date on the streaming platform, but fingers crossed we’ll be able to watch it soon!

Paranormal is directed by Egyptian director Amr Salama and Emirati director Majid Al Ansari. The horror series is also co-produced with Salama and Film Clinic’s Mohamed Hefzy.

How excited are you for the release?
